IRCC will Accept PTE as an Alternative Language Proficiency Test for Visa Applicants
According to a recent announcement, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will start accepting the Pearson Test of English (PTE) to demonstrate the English language proficiency of Canada visa applicants.
The decision to allow the Pearson Test of English as an approved language proficient test for applicants of economic immigration will come into force in the later part of 2023. Pearson Test for English will be an addition to the four designated language tests for English and French:
Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP)
International English Language Testing Systems (IELTS)
The Test d’évaluation du français (TEF)
Test de connaissance du français (TCF)
Language proficiency tests help applicants for Canada visas, demonstrate their language proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The requirement for language proficiency scores for study permit applicants is different, as they must pass the academic versions of the tests.
The Pearson Test for English
Canada joins the list of over 70 countries that accept the Pearson Test for English. PTE is a comparatively new English proficiency test. However, it gained extensive acceptance and popularity because it is the fairest, quickest, and most convenient method of demonstrating an individual’s English language proficiency.
Anyone can appear for the Pearson Test of English as it does not mandate any eligibility criteria. One should provide correct personal details, like grades and age. Parental consent is necessary for candidates below 18 years.
