IRCC Aims to Expedite Work Permit and PGWP Processing by Leveraging Automation Tools
Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada shared an update on the Algorithmic Impact Assessment on October 16, 2023.
The latest report on Algorithmic Impact Assessment by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada highlights the role of automated tools in speeding up the processing of work permits and Post-graduation Work Permits (PGWP). IRCC plans to leverage two dedicated automation tools for all in-Canada Work Permit applications and Post-graduation Work Permits.
IRCC is using identical tools for the processing of:
Refugee applications (privately sponsored)
Visitor extensions
Temporary Resident Visas
In-Canada Sponsorship of a spouse or common-law partner
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada is enhancing the time-tested automation technologies for efficient and speedy processing of Work Permits and Post-graduation Work Permits.
These automation tools select routine applications for expedited processing by categorizing applications as per their levels of complexity. The tools assess the client data to detect errors in the applications such as:
Missing values
Incompleteness
Outdated submissions
Trust issues
Applications without flaws get automated positive eligibility and proceed to the approval stage. The automation tools do not influence the decisions on ineligibility as these aim at automating the eligibility approvals.
