Invitations to Apply under Provincial Programs issued by Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia
The latest PNP draws by Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia provinces sent invitations to skilled workers to apply for permanent residency.
Canadian provinces use individual nominee programs to select candidates to fulfill their labor market and demographic needs. Provincial nomination entitles selected candidates to apply for permanent residency to the federal immigration authority, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) issued 35 ITAs on Nov 8, 2022. The Occupations-in-Demand category invited ten candidates, while the Express Entry category invited 21 candidates. The SINP also issued invitations to a few candidates living in Ukraine, facing hardships because of the Russian invasion.
Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia invited candidates under the Nova Scotia Labor Market Priorities stream. The province selected candidates for ITAs through the stream for the first time since Feb 2022. The total number of candidates receiving letters of interest is not available.
Nova Scotia mandates a minimum of 10 Canadian Language Benchmark scores in French, besides a minimum score of 7 in English language abilities as a second language.
PNPs driving Canada’s provincial immigration
Provincial Nominee Programs improve the economy of provinces. The growth in permanent residents supports Canada’s economic development in regions away from urban centers because of PNPs.
Immigration through provincial nomination balances economic growth and immigrant population across the country. Canada has been operating Provincial Nominee Programs since 1998. PNPs welcome over 105,000 foreign nationals per year as permanent residents.
Most Canadian provinces put their Provincial Nominee Programs on hold as the existing National Occupational system is about to change by incorporating the new classification method for Express Entry candidates.
