First-ever Category-based Express Entry Draw for 10 Transport Occupations
Hon. Marc Miller, Canada’s Minister for Immigration, announced IRCC’s plan to hold the new Express Entry draw for transportation workers targeting ten transportation occupations this week.
The first-ever transportation category-based Express Entry draw will help Canada attract aircraft assembly workers, pilots, and commercial truck drivers to meet labor shortages in the transportation industry.
The new Express Entry draw follows Canada’s immigration strategy to conduct category-based Express Entry draws. The CRS score range for the transportation category-based draw may be between 350 and 400, similar to the category-based Express Entry draws for trades occupations.
The Express Entry draw will target ten transportation occupations as per 2021 NOC codes:
93200- Aircraft assemblers and aircraft assembly inspectors
70020- Managers in transportation
73300- Transport truck drivers
72403- Railway carmen and women
72404- Aircraft mechanics and aircraft inspectors
72600- Air pilots, flight engineers, and flight instructors
72601- Air traffic controllers and related occupations
72602- Deck officers, water transport
72603- Engineer officers, water transport
72604- Railway traffic controllers and marine traffic regulators
During each invitation round, the points-based Express Entry application management system selects top-ranking profiles from the Express Entry pool. Each candidate in the pool receives CRS scores according to age, education, skilled experience, adaptability, and language proficiency. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada invites the top-scoring candidates to apply for permanent residency.
