Canada to Start Sending Invitations to Apply under the 2023 Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship Program

Canada to Start Sending Invitations to Apply under the 2023 Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship Program

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced plans to begin accepting applications for PGP Sponsorship effective October 10, 2023.

IRCC expects to receive up to 15,000 completed applications for the 2023 Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program by sending 24,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to aspiring sponsors. Starting October 10, IRCC will initiate the process of sending invitations.

IRCC is not opening a new Interest to Sponsor form because it will select potential applicants from the submissions in 2022 at random.

Sponsors who did not receive Invitations to Apply despite submitting an Interest to Sponsor form in 2020 should expect the invitations as per the new announcement by IRCC. They must submit the completed applications online after receiving invitations.

Canada’s Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship program allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents and grandparents for permanent residence. They should provide proof of sufficient income to support their parents and grandparents by providing relevant income proof for the last three years.

The Super Visa program is a suitable alternative for those who may not be eligible for the Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship program.  It enables parents and grandparents to enter Canada multiple times over ten years. The multiple-entry Super Visa helps the holders stay in Canada for up to five years. Super Visa validity is extendable for a period of two ears.
