Canada to Increase Processing Fees for All PR Applications W.E.F. April 30, 2024

There will be an increase in application fees for all permanent residency applications effective April 30, 2024.

Canada hikes immigration fees once every two years. The recent announcement by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) confirms an increase in immigration fees for all PR applications from April 30, 2024. The new immigration fees will be in force till March 2026.

IRCC uses cumulative percentage growth in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) over the previous two years to arrive at the new rates of immigration applications.

These are a few examples of new immigration fees with the existing fees in the brackets:

Right to Permanent Residence (RPR)- $575 ($515)

Express Entry (Principal Applicant)- $950 ($850)

Express Entry (Accompanying spouse/ common-law partner)- $950 ($850)

Express Entry (Accompanying child)- $260 ($230)

Permit holders- $375 ($335)

The applicants of Express Entry will have to pay $1525 as total immigration fees, including the right of permanent residence fees ($575), and processing fees ($950), effective April 30, 2024.

The new hike in immigration applications is on a higher side than the previous increase. IRCC increased immigration application fees by up to 3 percent in April 2022. The present hike is much higher at 12 to 13 percent.
