Canada Invites 2,800 Candidates in the Latest Express Entry Rounds of Invitations
Canada’s Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship (IRCC) held two rounds of Express Entry invitations on August 1 and August 2, inviting 2,800 candidates.
All-program Express Entry Draw
Canada resumed rounds of invitations under the Express Entry system on August 1, 2023. The All-Program Express Entry draw issued invitations to 2,000 candidates. The CRS score cutoff for the general category Express Entry draw was 517 points. It was the first Express Entry selection draw after the July 11 round of invitations.
Category-based Express Entry Draw
Canada invited 800 candidates with French-speaking ability in the category-based Express Entry draw on August 2, 2023. The eligible candidates required a French language proficiency of level 7, besides a CRS score of 435 points and above. The CRS score was 60 points higher than the previous draw. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) may conduct another Express Entry draw to invite 2,000 candidates this week.
Trades Category-based Draw
IRCC is planning to hold the first-ever category-based draw for skilled trades workers. Marc Miller, the new immigration minister, announced the new trades category-based Express Entry draw to meet the growing demand for skilled workers.
It will target eligible candidates from various occupations, such as plumbing, carpentry, and welding. At least six months’ work experience is necessary to qualify for the category-based draw for skilled trades.
