Canada Introduces Two New Streams Under Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP)
Canada launched two new streams for displaced people and refugees on June 12, 2023.
The new economic immigration programs under the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP) are customized for refugees and displaced people. The new streams enable eligible candidates with a Canadian job offer and highly skilled candidates without job offers to settle in Canada. Refugees and displaced individuals meeting eligibility criteria for education, language proficiency, and work experience can aspire to immigrate to Canada through the two new programs.
EMPP Federal Skills Job Offer Stream
The Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot’s federal job offer stream targets the following in-demand occupations:
Mechanical and electrical engineers
Long-term care aides
Delivery service drivers
Tourism and hospitality workers
Canadian employers may hire candidates eligible for jobs under any TEER (Training Education Experience Responsibilities) categories from 0 to 5. The new Economic Immigration pathway does not mandate proof of settlement funds and Educational Credentials Assessment (ECA).
EMPP Federal Skills without Job Offer Stream
The No Jib Offer stream of the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot caters to candidates with skills for in-demand skills. There are higher eligibility criteria for education, work experience, and language skills to help them find jobs in Canada. The No Job Offer stream requires candidates to show proof of settlement funds and Educational Credentials Assessment (ECA).
