Canada Emerges as the Most Sought-after Study Destination for International Students
The opportunity to get Canadian work experience after finishing study programs is the most compelling reason for Canada’s top global position as a student destination.
IDP Education’s recent Emerging Futures study highlighted that Canada is the number one choice of international students. Canada surged ahead of the United Kingdom, Australia, and the US to achieve the top slot for international study destinations.
Most international students taking part in the survey rated Canada as the safest, most affordable, and most welcoming country among the world’s top study destination countries. Canada promises diverse work opportunities and a chance to become a permanent resident after graduation.
The availability of post-study visas was the main factor attracting students from the following countries to Canada:
India – 61 percent of students
China – 61 percent of students
Nigeria – 63 percent of students
Vietnam – 75 percent of students
Ghana – 58 percent of students
Over 53 percent of respondents considered employment the most attractive factor for selecting Canada as their study destination. High education standard was crucial for 61 percent of respondents, and part-time work availability was the main factor for 43 percent of students.
Canada’s Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) facility allows students to get valuable work experience after graduation. It qualifies them to seek permanent residency through Canada’s Express Entry system.
