Canada Boosts Family Reunification with New Measures

New Family Class Immigration measures by IRCC will help families immigrate to Canada in 30 days.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced several measures on May 26 to strengthen family unification, including speedy processing of Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) applications for spouses.

Canada supports newcomers to settle and prosper in society. Reuniting families is a vital commitment of Canada’s immigration ministry because families are crucial for developing a healthy Canadian society.

These are the new initiatives by IRCC to help families unite in Canada:

To speed up the processing of TRV applications by spouses

To supports spousal TRV applicants with dedicated and new processing tools

To provide a new Open Work Permit for family class and spousal applicants

To extend Open Work Permits expiring between August 1 and the end of the year.

Canada’s immigration minister stressed the need to reunite families faster with the quick processing of TRV applications. The families can be together while PR applications are under process. Canada is allowing newcomers to get temporary work permits and provide financial support to families.

Spousal applicants can extend their work permits if these are about to expire between August 1 and the end of the year. The extension will be for eighteen more months.

Spouses, common-law partners, and children can benefit from these initiatives. They can continue to live in Canada as Temporary Residents till approval of their permanent residence.
