Alberta Unveils Plans to Launch a New Immigration Stream for the Tourism Sector

Alberta Advantage Immigration Program will have an additional immigration path, beginning March 1, 2024.

The new pathway will help Alberta attract skilled workers to meet labor shortages and other demands of the tourism and hospitality sectors. The new stream of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program will have a cap on the applications for immigrating to the province.

Alberta plans to expedite the processing of applications under the new stream of AAIP through several priority processing initiatives. The main objective of the new pathway for the tourism and hospitality sector is to boost Alberta’s economy. It will help Albertan employers in this sector recruit and retain the in-demand labor.

A full-time non-seasonal employment offer from an authorized Albertan company in the tourism and hospitality industry is the main eligibility requirement for the new AAIP stream. A relevant six-month working experience in the tourism and hospitality sector and eligibility to immigrate to Alberta will boost the chances of settling in Alberta through the new AAIP stream.

Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) welcomes business entrepreneurs and skilled workers to settle in the province through multiple AAIP immigration pathways. The rural and hospitality stream will enable Alberta to address acute labor shortages in these sectors.
