Highlights of GTS program

Global Talent Search program aims at helping Canadian employers hire skilled talent from across the globe to enhance their global competitive edge in information technology. The GTS program enjoys the support of Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

General stream requirements

Employers hire foreign nationals under the GTS program after receiving a positive Labor Market Impact Assessment. The LMIA rules for the GTS program do not mandate the employer to confirm the non-availability of talent within Canada. It helps expedite the process of hiring. • Labor Market Benefits Plan– Employers should demonstrate that the business operations can create a positive impact on the Canadian labor market

In addition, the employer should also meet the requirements of the GTS program concerning the specific category.

GTS and foreign workers

Foreign workers cannot apply under the GTS program directly. Landing a job offer from a Canadian employer qualified for the GTS program is the only option to secure a Canadian work permit. GTS is an ideal pathway if you wish to obtain permanent residency status, although GTS can only result in a temporary work permit.

Immigration programs like Global Talent Search help Canada fill the vacancy void and remain competitive in the global innovation market. Thanks to the restrictive immigration strategies of the US, foreign nationals perceive Canada as a superior option. Unlike H-1B visas, The GTS program of Canada allows spouses and work-partners of applicants to obtain an open work permit.
