Atlantic Immigration Pilot

Atlantic Immigration Pilot

Employers in the four Atlantic provinces of Canada, namely Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island, can hire foreign workers for jobs they were unable to fill using local workers. This can be done through the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program.

The Atlantic Immigration Pilot encourages foreign workers to apply for jobs in the Atlantic Canada region. The program is aimed at fulfilling the needs of local employers and communities. Designated employers from the region can identify and employ foreign talent. Besides helping boost employment rates in the region, the program also has the goals of supporting population growth and developing a skilled workforce.

As one of the top-rated immigration consultants in Canada, we can provide you with all the assistance you need to complete the Atlantic Immigration Pilot program successfully.

The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program is a part of a larger growth strategy of the region and focuses on areas of critical priority, including innovation, infrastructure, trade, investment, and others.

How It Works

The employer-driven program makes the hiring of foreign nationals simple and easy. The principal applicants arriving in Canada under this program should carry proof of job offer from a designated employer. They must also show an individualized settlement plan for their family.

When an employer locates an ideal candidate meeting their employment qualification needs and fulfills the program criteria, they must make a job offer. They are spared the hassle of going through the process of obtaining a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).

When the candidate accepts the employment offer, the employer will connect the candidate with a settlement service. This is for assessing the needs of the candidate and creating a settlement. The long-term incorporation of the employee and their family is also something the employers will focus on. This ensures the family can meet their settlement goals when they arrive in Canada.

Employers who need to fill a job vacancy urgently can do so by using a temporary work permit. With this work permit, the candidate and their family need not bide time waiting for the procedures to complete. They can come to Canada as soon as possible. To qualify for the temporary permit, the candidates must have:

  • A valid job offer
  • A letter from the province
  • An assurance that the candidate will apply for permanent residence within 90 days

Employer Designation

Employers looking to hire skilled workers under the pilot program must first apply to the province(s) to receive the designation. If they have businesses in multiple provinces, they will need individual designations, one for each province. Employers must fulfill some requirements. These include a promise to support the newcomer and family as they settle into their new life in Atlantic Canada.

Candidate Requirements

The Atlantic Immigration Pilot offers two types of programs for skilled workers:

  • Atlantic High-Skilled Program (AHSP)
  • Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program (AISP)

The Atlantic International Graduate Program (AIGP) is for international student graduates.
The work experience and the qualification of the candidates will depend on whether they are applying as a student or a worker.
