The Agri-Food Immigration Pilot Program was launched by the Canadian Immigration Services on May 15, 2020. The goal of the program is to resolve the labour needs of the country’s Agri-Food industry. With every one in eight jobs connected to this industry, the Canadian government aims to attract quality labor from overseas to fill the gap in demand. The move is expected to give a fillip to the economy and create many middle-class jobs within the country.

According to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), 2,750 applications will be accepted every year under this pilot.
The Agri-Food immigration pilot eligibility rules demand that the applicants must have:
They must also provide proof of having the financial resources to settle in Canada and must have maintained the status of a temporary resident if they are already working in the country.
The following occupations and industries are eligible under the pilot program:
General farm workers, supervisors, and livestock workers
All applicants must furnish proof of having adequate funds to settle in Canada. The evidence must indicate the ability to support self and family members.
The applicant must have a valid job offer and relevant work experience. They must carry out the following:

All applicants must provide medical test reports through designated medical doctors. They must also provide police verification certificates for self and family members. Applicants with a history of medical cases may not get admitted to the program. The same rule is also applicable for applicants with a criminal threat to the country.
