Post – Invitation To Apply (ITA)

Post – Invitation to Apply (ITA)

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) offers Invitation to Apply to candidates in the Express Entry Pool based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Invitation to Apply (ITA) is an electronically generated document sent to candidates, as per the Express Entry profile.

An ITA is a notification to certain applicants in the Express Entry pool to proceed with an application for permanent residence. Submission of electronic Application for Permanent Residence (e-APR) is a complex process. You can seek the guidance of an expert immigration consultant for professional assistance to fill out the application.

What next after receiving an ITA

After receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA), the applicant gets sixty days to submit an e-APR through Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Submission of all necessary documents in the form of scanned copies to the web portal of IRCC is the immediate step after receiving an ITA. It also indicates that you have accepted the Invitation to Apply.

Processing of the majority of e-APRs by IRCC is completed within a six months period. Candidates and their families receive visas to travel to Canada following the approval of their e-APRs. You will receive official documents of your Permanent resident status after arriving at the Canadian Port of Entry (POE).

Periodic renewal of the Permanent Residence card is a crucial requirement to continue your legal PR status. You will take steps to comply with the requirements of Permanent Residency to maintain your PR status.

Checklist of documents to file an e-APR

You will be submitting all documents to support the qualifications mentioned by you while creating the Express Entry profile. Additionally, you will also provide supportive documents to establish that you are not inadmissible to Canada. These documents must be either in English or French. If the documents are in any other language, you must provide certified transcripts.

Following are some of the necessary documents for filing an e-APR:

  • Documents for Identity and Civil Status– These include passports of the principal applicant and all members of the family who will be accompanying them. You will also submit birth certificates and documents to establish your marital status.
  • Documents for Language Test results– Submission of language test results is a good idea even though IRCC can directly access these.
  • Documents for Education– These include all educational qualifications claimed in the Express Entry profile along with transcripts, original Educational Credential Assessment report (ECA).
  • Documents for Work Experience– These are reference letters giving details of job title/ salary/ dates of employments, pay-slips, copies of contracts, and other documents as per Express Entry profile
  • Proof of Funds documents– It will establish that you are in a position to support your living expenditure in Canada. These are nothing but settlement fees and vary as per the family size.
  • Documents to confirm Medical Examination– Submit digital copies of your medical examination.
  • Documents of Police Clearance certificates– Police clearance certificates are not valid beyond 12 months, so procuring these before receiving an ITA may not help. Besides, there may be a delay in receiving police clearance if you apply after receiving an ITA. Make sure you submit proof that you are in the process of obtaining these.
  • Copy of nomination– A copy of the Provincial Nomination certificate is an essential document if mentioned in your Express Entry Profile.
  • Evidence of Canadian relatives– Submit relevant documents if your Express Entry profile mentions a relative in Canada.
  • Proof to support a job offer– Although an e-APR does not mandate a job offer, you need to submit it if you have claimed it in Express Entry Profile.

An explanation is a must in case you cannot provide any of these documents. It should also include details of your efforts to find the missing documents. You may seek the help of any knowledgeable immigration consultant to avoid possible complications because of any lacunae concerning the documents.
