How Express Entry Works

Express Entry provides the fastest way to immigrate and settle in Canada, subject to the specific eligibility criteria. More than 110,000 immigrants qualify to obtain permanent residence in Canada every year under various Economic Immigration Programs backed by the Express Entry selection system.

Foreign nationals can permanently immigrate to Canada by leveraging the Express Entry selection system Express entry is emerging as the main driver to boost the immigration of skilled workers and is undoubtedly the most sought-after immigration system in the world.

How does the Express Entry selection system work?

The Express Entry selection system is a straightforward process that involves two crucial stages. The first stage requires the eligible candidate to show the Canadian government that they wish to obtain Canadian permanent resident status. In the second stage, the Canadian government invites candidates having the highest scores to immigrate to Canada. Following are the vital steps to complete the first stage of the Express Entry selection process:

Step 1 – Determine your eligibility for applying to the Express Entry selection process.

Step 2– Obtain an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) by completing the language testing process.

Step 3 – Use the appropriate online portal of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to submit your profile.

Step 4 – Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA)

Step 5 – Submission of application for Permanent Residence (APR) and paying fees within the specific timelines with the medical examination and Police verification. Obtain an Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR)

Step 6 – Submission of biometrics in response to instructions from IRCC

Step 7 – It may take up to six months for a final decision on your application for permanent residence. IRCC will issue a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) along with a Permanent Resident visa to help you travel and enter Canada.

The Comprehensive Ranking System

Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) ranks all candidates who indicate their willingness through Expression of Interest and satisfy all eligibility criteria. Following are the significant factors that determine the candidate’s ranking for the Express Entry Selection process:

  • Core human factors
  • Accompanying spouse
  • Transferability of the skill factor
  • The factor regarding provincial nomination or arranged employment offer

Candidates with the highest scores receive an Invitation to Apply. The candidate must complete the submission process by providing all necessary documents and evidence within 90 days of the receipt of ITA.
