Canada is the worlds second-largest country and it is a road-trippers dream. If you want to see this enchanting country in all its glory, you should ideally drive through it.
To do that, however, you will need to know the rules and regulations that are attached to driving.
If you are in New Brunswick and want to drive, heres some information on what you need to carry along while driving.

  • Visitors

If you are from outside of Canada and are visiting New Brunswick, you need:

  • A valid driving license from your home country. If it is not in English, you would require it’s certified translation.

  • An International Driver’s Permit

With these, you can drive for up to three months or 90 days as a visitor.

  • Students

If you are from outside of Canada and are studying in New Brunswick, you need:

  • A valid driving license from your home country. If it is not in English, you would require it’s certified translation.
  • An International Driver’s Permit

With these, you can drive for the duration of your studies so long as you remain a full-time student.

Residents

All new residents of New Brunswick need to change their home country driver’s permit to a Class 5 license. You should do this as soon as possible.
In case your driver’s permit is from the following countries/territories:

  • Australia
  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Denmark
  • France
  • Germany
  • Isle of Man
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Japan
  • Netherlands
  • New Zealand
  • Norway
  • Portugal
  • Scotland
  • Republic of Korea
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • Taiwan
  • United States
  • Wales

You can exchange it for a New Brunswick Class 5or Class 6 (depending on the country) driver’s license.
You will have to take a full drivers license examination if your country is not on the list. This exam comprises knowledge, vision,and road tests.
